The maths
Elo, with nothing hidden.
It is the chess calculation. Everyone holds a number of points, and what a win is worth depends on the gap between the two sides: beating someone above you pays a lot, beating someone below you almost nothing, and losing to someone stronger costs little.
- The formula
- Your odds of winning follow from the Elo gap. The gain is the factor multiplied by however much better you did than those odds.
- The factor
- K = 32 while you have fewer than 30 games, then K = 16. It does not depend on the sport: a newcomer finds their level fast, a regular no longer gets flipped by a single evening.
- Teams
- In doubles, each side counts as the average Elo of its players, and the result is then applied to each of them individually.
- Uneven team sizes
- This is the one place where the sport enters the calculation. Two against one, the short-handed side faces an opponent counted stronger than they are: 150 Elo points per missing player at table football and table tennis, none at pool, where being short-handed is no disadvantage.
- The starting point
- Everyone starts at 1200 points, in every sport and in every room. Nobody gets a head start.

Every sport has its own rules and its own ranking. The catalogue will grow; these three are the ones the app ships today.
Table football
The king of the coffee break. Play it 1v1 or 2v2, and switch on the bonus-point rules if your room counts them.

What people ask about how it works.
Is all of it really free?
Yes. Creating a room, logging matches, running a tournament, reading the statistics: all of it is open, with no card to hand over. There is no paid tier, and the project lives off donations rather than subscriptions.
Why does my Elo move less than it used to?
Because you have passed thirty games. Beyond that the factor drops from to : your ranking counts as settled, and a single evening no longer turns it over.
How is Elo computed for a team?
Each side counts as the average Elo of its players, and the result is then applied to each of them. Winning as a pair against a stronger pair therefore pays both players. If team sizes are uneven, a sport-specific handicap raises the opponent of the short-handed side.
What does a new season reset?
The ranking, and only the ranking. Games, head-to-heads and profiles all stay: a season reopens the race without erasing what was played before.
